Going To Telluride Colorado Offers Great Activities In The Winter, Summer And Fall

One that is usually overlooked by people that go to Aspen or Vail is Telluride, Colorado. This one is a longer distance from Denver and tucked in the San Juan mountain range making it one of the most gorgeous places you will ever witness. The steep mountain peaks drop directly down into the Victorian styled buildings in town and make it a favorite spot for several celebrities like Tom Cruise. This article will discuss the different activities to do while in Telluride, whether it is in the winter for learning to ski with great telluride ski instruction from telluride ski instructors or in the summer or fall.
The joke about this great town is that a person will come during the winter to ski and never leave staying there all through the summer and loving it just as much as the winter. There are several activities going on in the summer here and something for everyone. The mountains offer wonderful trails for backpacking and hiking and great campsites to pitch your tent if you wish to camp here instead of staying in some of the various accommodations in town. One of the fun activities to do here is to play disc, this area has world class mountain biking and has a large selection of trails for every level. There are a few shops that rent top of the line mountain bikes to participate in this great activity.
Some other great activities to do here in the warmer months are great fly fishing in the various rivers and streams and lakes in this mountain area. Another adrenaline pumping activity that takes place on the rivers here is river rafting that is usually great from all of the snow that melts from the mountains to the rivers. If the sky is more your liking try a glider ride off of the top of the mountain peak to see the valley below or go on a horseback ride on the plentiful trails.
The majority of the visitors do visit Telluride in the winter go skiing and snowboarding. Just like the summer, there are a variety of other activities to do in the winter besides just skiing. For a one of a kind experience take a horse drawn sleigh ride or be pulled by canines for a dog sledding experience too. If you are an extreme skier you can do helicopter or cat skiing transporting you to remote untouched terrain. The Nordic ski trails are beautifully groomed as well as areas for some cardio enducing snowshoeing too.
Telluride is known for some well known festivals and events that have been happening for over 3 decades. Some of the better known events are the Telluride Film Festival, the Bluegrass Festival and the Jazz Celebration. If you want to visit during fall foliage go in September for the Blues and Brews event.
