Skiing and snowboarding to the none winter sports fan are almost one in the same but to the slope lover you might as well as well say people who keep dogs are like people who keep cats!

A skier will tell you that skiing is the true snow sport and snowboarding is for kids while a snowboard rider will tell you skiing and snowboarding are totally different and don’t compare for fun, style and most importantly as far as they are concerned, for coolness.

In truth there are some pretty major differences between skiing and snowboarding. Snowboarding requires far less gear for starters and you don’t have ski sticks so your hands don’t get so cold.

Another major difference between skiing and snowboarding is the fashion. Skiiers tend to be made up of the baby boomer generation where as snowboarding is the choice of the younger snow fans.

Because of this, ski gear tends to be on the conservative side and snowboard gear is full of bright colors and fashion labels.

If you have never tried either your best bet is to go to your nearest slopes and take a few lessons in skiing and snowboarding to see which best suits you.
